Iolite is a captivating variety of Cordierite, named after the Greek word ios, meaning “violet.” This collection hails from India and showcases the stone’s remarkable pleochroism—a property that causes its color to shift between deep blue, violet, and shimmering gold depending on the angle.
 
This specimen is one of the larger available in palm stone formation. A beautiful deep purple throughout, highlited by a rainbow of reflective specks, concentrated along the edge of the piece.
